My brand new website concept :D

I've been working on this website for a couple of months now and need your input Please let me know what you like about my website, what you dont understand, what you hate and features I can add/make better

I would really love for you to set Gedoo.com as your homepage for a couple of days just to try it out and see how easy it is to use Here is a lil description:

Gedoo.com is a startpage where you can search in over 3000 (more is added daily) search engines from the same page. It includes search engines from many different countries and languages. You will only be able to see search engines in your language and english.

If you just enter a search term it will automatically search in Google from your country. If you are from United Kingdom it will search in Google.co.uk, if you are from Canada it will search in Google.ca, ect.

You can set any search engine you wish as your primary search engine. If you want eBay to be your primary search engine you just enter ebay and click on «Make primary» on the drop-down.

Another smart feature is that you can enter urls directly into the search field. If you enter flickr.com in the search field it will automatically go to http://www.flickr.com.

If you enter «you» in the search field you will see that «YouTube» shows as a suggestion. Click on YouTube, type in your search term and click enter and you will see that it searches in YouTube. Same goes for every other search engine in the database.

You can also personalize Gedoo.com with background images. Go to http://www.gedoo.com/background/ and see all the backgrounds we offer. Gedoo.com features over 100 beautiful background images.

NOTE: For Opera users there is a tiny bug that makes it search in Google when you go down to select a search engine and click enter ... I am working to fix this... In the meanwhile you can just click on the search engine with the mouse and it will work fine

Is there any way you could display the results within gedoo's pages?

Yeah, I like your font, but the whole landing page thing confuses me...I'm with Mike....results should be within gedoo's page.

 

I think "misterdh" wants to allow user to search any site from his website and so it has to redirect to other site. He can display only google, yahoo, youtube and other popular websites' result to his site as they gives search api/feed but for other website, it has to redirect.

 

An interesting concept... yet I don't quite get why I should use gedoo.com instead of the actual search engine I get redirected to... It's not some kind of meta search engine, so what is its actual purpose? Why should people use your site?

 

I kept your site on my mind, and I came up with few suggestions.

Why don't you add a "Set this page as your Homepage" link?
also, you could change the "google" style. Put the current links on the top-right, or at the bottom with a fixed div.( just something different )


If I come up with other suggestions, I will be putting them here

liked the concept, and it is well implemented. good job
however the logo can have a lil something more !!!

This is the reason why I wont/cant display the search results on Gedoo.com ... Plus I think the general internet users want to use Google anyways instead of another site with Google results on it.. I know I wanna use Google.. Its more familiar : )

Okey obviously I need to make it more clearer on my website why users would want to use Gedoo... The reasons I think users might want to use it is:

1. You can use it like you use Google, Bing, Yahoo or whatever search engine you have currently set as your startpage... You can choose in over 3000 search engines as your main search engine..

2. You can actually search in all of the 3000 search engines from the same page !

3. You can go directly to an url without having to point your mouse at the toolbar, click on the url bar and enter.. Just type it directly and click enter.. I know this is not a super-advanced feature but if you try to use Gedoo as your homepage for a couple of days you will see how useful this feature is : )

Thanks alot Mike I added a "Set as homepage" link that is currently only visible for IE users... The reason is that I couldnt find any scripts for other browsers.. I will add a info page for the other browsers unless I find some scripts : )

What more are you thinking about? I know the logo might a bit dull but the idea is that you can set one of our background ( http://www.gedoo.com/background/ ) images as background to spice up the page. The logo looks real nice on any type of background : ) Try it!

Thanks for the suggestion : ) I made them a bit smaller and it looks real nice : ) I made the font smaller for the whole site actually and it looks a hundred times better : )

Some exiting new features on Gedoo now it has a new design as you can see.. You now get a list of your last used search engines so you can make repeated searches faster.

You can also type directly the name of the search engine you want to search in with the term and it will auto-detect that search engine. For example if you type "youtube music" and click enter you will search for music in youtube. Gedoo also has alot more search engines to search in (over 9000 actually!) and new ones are added every day!

Hope you enjoy it and please give me feedback and input on how to make it better

Layout is good, concept is nice. But it would be great if the results are shown within your domain name, within your website with your own unique layout for search results. That would really brand your website and make it a unique search engine. Currently it just redirects which is kind of a turn off.

I dont understand .. ? It is supposed to search in Gedoo Search ( http://www.gedoo.com/search/s.php?c...=az9aw8-wf9w&ie=UTF-8&q=digital+point&x=0&y=0 ) unless you have clicked "Make primary" on a search engine which lets you search primarily int he search engine you want.

The nice thing about Gedoo search is that it is suggesting other search engines based on previous searches with the same term

I like it as some above said clean and simple as it has to be. Maybe one thing i would do is that logotype would be more profesional. This one
