My blog keeps fluctuating between being indexed and de-indexed by Google.

Since January 1 this year, my blog has been experiencing a decrease in indexing, and it has continued to decline. At its lowest point, only the homepage remained indexed. After the algorithm update in March, my blog was re-indexed, and within three days, all pages were indexed. However, a week later, my blog reverted to its original state. Until now, I have been consistently updating blog content, but it still hasn’t fully recovered its indexing. At best, only a few articles are indexed.

2. The blog does not contain any spammy links.
3. The blog publishes approximately 1-2 articles per week.
4. I have never received any penalties from Google.

 

Obtain more active (AKA dofollow) incoming links for your diary.

Try to write the "link bait" content.

Your blog’s indexing fluctuations could be linked to Google’s algorithm adjustments and crawling patterns. Consistent quality content is crucial, but also ensure your sitemap is updated and submitted to Google Search Console. Monitoring crawl errors and site speed may help improve indexing over time.

 

Every time someone tells me that the content isn’t good or interesting enough for Google, and that’s why it’s not being indexed, I want to ask — do you even know what the word “search engine” means?
Originally, the task of Google search engine was to crawl and index as much of the web as possible (ideally, everything).
If a search engine couldn’t do that, it was considered a bad search engine.
Google was meant to be a search engine, not an editorial gatekeeper.
So, when and how did it happen that instead of helping us find sites, Google started inventing impossible quests just so we could earn the privilege of being found by Google?

 

No, I have the same issue on a few of my sites.
Google can index tens of thousands of posts in a single day, and then three days later, deindex them all.
For no reason.
This back-and-forth has been going on for several years now, and each time it gets worse and worse.
On the other hand, I have a couple of sites with 100% copy-paste content, and all of those posts are indexed.
A search engine should search, not evaluate content based on its constantly changing, stupid algorithms.

Do you guys use any tools when writing articles? How can we get more exposure and better search rankings?

 

I use ChatGPT to collect and analyze information.
Then I write the post outline myself.
For example: in the beginning write this and that, then explain this topic and that topic, then add this part and that one, and finally write a conclusion.

I also try to keep sentences short when possible.
I tell ChatGPT how many words each paragraph should have.
Short sentences in small paragraphs are easier to read.

Of course, I understand the topic I’m writing about.
So if ChatGPT writes something wrong, I know it.
I don’t know how it is for others, but my ChatGPT is lazy and tricky liar.
It often tries to lie, shorten the text, or act like it doesn’t understand me.
So yeah, it’s a sneaky and lazy liar.
But I’ve learned how to deal with it.

In the end, I always reread the text.
If I feel that the reader might not get the idea, or if the text sounds too formal, I rewrite the sentence or paragraph.
Sometimes I do it myself, sometimes I ask ChatGPT to rewrite it in simpler words.

Also, I use Google Translation built into the browser to translate the final text.
If the translation reads well, everything is fine.
If it doesn’t, I rewrite the original English text using different words.

Of course, I don’t do this for every post, but I do it for about 7 out of 10.

 

Keyword cannibalization is another reason for indexing and de-indexing issues. I’ve experienced a similar problem.
