My blog just got picked up by Google News

    Hello,

    I run a little technology blog but recently I’ve been putting a good deal more time into it and just a few moments ago I noticed it was listed for the first time in Google news. It really surprised me at first because I was checking my email and for Google alerts and here was the post I had just made to my blog.

    Well, I guess I’m just a little too happy, I don’t really know how much traffic or good it will do me but I had to let someone know.

    You know what? At first I thought no; I didn’t make any real major changes or updates to my blog. Even the WordPress is still the version from March of last year but now I recall installing Gregarious it’s a WordPress plugin I found right here at the forum.

    I found it in a thread here about the best WP plugins.

    You know what; I may have jumped the gun. I just checked Google news itself and my blog isn’t in there. However, I setup my alert to show all “blogs”, “news” and “comprehensive”. For a moment I thought they were the same thing because I got the Google News alert but I guess I was wrong.

    Perhaps someone here knows more about it; is getting an alert with alerts set to those three categories the same as being included in Google News or was that just me being stupid?

    No, just file this one under “I’m an idiot”. After double checking, it only showed up in my inbox because I had the Google Blog alerts set. It had me happy for a little while but then I realized just how dumb I really am. :eek:

    do a search for site:domain.com in google news.

    That will verify if your domain is being picked up by them.

    My blog ever showed on google finance (very easy to get here,only write some info abou the company listed in google finance) .but only get a little traffic.

    I'm convinced now that I got the alert because I also setup alerts for "blogs" for a niche I follow and I found 77 of my sites pages indexed in http://blogsearch.google.com but I'm not going to fool myself, I doubt I will see much if any real traffic from there; but, who knows?
