My Blog Gone because of Expired Hosting - What shall I do?

What shall I do with my blog, which cannot be found now online because it got disconnected with the hosting account of a friend who opted to sell his site together with the hosting account? My friend told me to contact the new owner for the back up files of my blog. Unfortunately, my emails to the new owner has yet to be responded to. I desperately need those back up files to re up my blog and have it again online. Is there any other way in which I can get those files? Thanks so much for anticipated response.

You can attempt contacting the company that owns the hosting service. If it's a serious host, they should have backups of everything. Also, go bug this friend of yours, maybe he has some backups on his computer? Even if it's not very recent, it'll be better than nothing.

If everything else fails, try looking for your content in google cache and using the wayback machine. Also in the cache of your computer. It's tedious and reconstructing your site won't be fun, but you might salvage some of it.

There must be some way to contact the new owner of the hosting account.

The hosting company can't do too much for you, as you can't prove that you own a website hosted into someone else's account.

The only good part of this is that you have learned to buy your own hosting account :)

Keeping up to date back ups is the responsibility of any website owner. Never trust a host, regardless of what they promise, to keep backups.
