Until a few days ago, I was getting a few thousands visitors daily from Google. I was ranking #1 for a lot of keywords related to my blog, and I could say that around 90% of my traffic was coming from Google. About two days ago I noticed a drastic drop in my traffic. When I checked my stats, I realized that nobody came to my website from Google anymore. I ran a few searches for some of the main keywords I knew I was ranking well for, and... nothing! My blog is not on the first page of Google, not even when I search for its own name! I admit I sold some links on this blog through TLA. Do you think that's the cause for G penalizing my site? What could I do to get my rankings back?
hello... Where the keywords "big keywords" like 1-2 words and would you mind sharing some of them? also is your site banned now or on page 6 for its own name thx m1
Do you mean your blog is no longer indexed by G? Seems like penalty to me... Anyway you'll have to deal with those suspicious links of yours. I would also suggest you analyze your overall activities and see whether you need to undo something else as well.
The keywords were not really "big keywords", they were mostly 3 or 4 words related to celebrity gossip (like "celebrity name event gossip" (I don't want to be more specific, but you probably get the idea). My blog has not been deindexed from Google (when I type site:URL I find probably the same number of pages indexed), but they are just not ranking for their keywords anymore. Another thing that I did about two weeks ago was add around 20-30 in-content links inside specific posts. I did this in a very short time (a day or two). They were not paid links (they were part of some link exchange), but I wonder if Google thought they were paid because I added them so fast. When Google penalizes your site, does it deindex your pages completely, or do you just lose your rankings?
I am seeing similar situation too. Except that, in my case, only a few articles have disappeared. My traffic has fallen 50%, even though 80% of my traffic is still from Google. This may be due to Vince Update.
Selling links through TLA could be the issues as well I have heard that last year google banned TLA, but they are back again.
did you out any restricted practice? Like link farming? This can be the possible reason for that. Mehul Trivedi http://everydayissaturday.com
ok reason i asked about keywords was related to the branding issue and/or the new algo that supposedly happened in last few days. Now your sites isnt de-indexed so your not banned... but i do believe that its either a google dance issue (many have experienced last few days) with your site or you got penalized for your keywords for paid links or whatever reason... My suggestion would be to wait a week or so and see if anything changes and if it doesnt then try requesting in webmasters tools for reclusion of whatever penalty you might have recieved. just my 2 cents nothing more thx malcolm
No, I didn't do anything related to link farming. Should I wait a few more days to see if any of my rankings come back? Should I just remove all paid links and pray for my rankings to come back (even though I lose all my revenue in the meantime)?
maybe your site got sandboxed? is this a new site? my site was on page 2 for a certain keyword but it was gone 2 weeks ago and now its back but its on page 3. better than nothing
Sometimes if it's a new site, it'll get deindexed and reindexed within a couple of days for some odd reason. I've had this happen with a couple of my blogs. Just make sure that you get yourself some good backlinks to keep your site healthy on google rankings.
It's definitely not a new site, so that's out of the question. It just seems weird how all my rankings dropped so suddenly. It's not like I'm not on the first page anymore for one or two specific keywords -- I've lost rankings for ALL of my keywords. I can still find my blog somewhere on page 6-7 (if I'm lucky and there's not much competition for that keyword). Until last week I was getting around 90% of all my visitors from Google, but now I get virtually no traffic from Google anymore. This sucks so bad...
wooooow... ok if they are page 6-7 most of them (including your own domain name) then the chances are very high that you got the paid link penalty... (chances are that google employee created an account viewed the sites selling or buying and slammed some of them) Now i would try to undo whatever you did "Then" after that ask for re-clusion request but i gotta tell ya that ive got 1 site that still hasnt recovered after that (2 years almost).... and i fixed the problems and contacted them back and still nothing, Not trying to get ya panicked but... when they are on pages 6-7 its not a good sign thx malxcolm
I've noticed this quite sometime with a few other blogs that I normally read... Apparently, the drop is temporary and usually comes back.. I have a couple blogs too, and they started with 40 pages+ being indexed. A couple days later, there were NO pages indexed... and then a couple more days after.. all the pages were back in Google index and more being added each day.. So, consider this a 'slump' phase temporarily... unless of course there's more to it than what you see!
no is not if your site sells links, Google will have the PR of all pages set to 0 or N/A but the website is still indexed and ranks just like before send me the url in a message and I will take a look
Yup.. TLA does not come to play in here. PR and Page indexing is entirely different. And besides, your site has not been de-indexed. Only gone down in the SERPs... there's a number of reasons for that to happen. I'd suggest you give it a few days and see if your ranking goes back up
It has happen to me twice before. The first time the site went from receiving 2k visits to only 200 per day. Then the nest one went from 7k visits to only 4.5k visits per day. It happens, there is nothing you can do exept add more content. Good luck.
I have experienced with one of my site too. I bet your ranking is bounce up-down for a time period. Sometime you are on #1 for your keyword and the next few hours you are not. I think only big keyword got effected. If you are after long tail keyword or keyword that is not popular then you are fine, like many other of my sites. I don't think this is a cause of TLA but this is a common effected by Google dance, especially a big one. If your domain is unique enough, try search only your domain without extension. If you find your domain at #1 - #3 (Must be #1 if no other similar domain name existed) then your site is fine. If otherwise, your site might be in a filter and re-evaluation of your site position. If you read this from Google webmaster you may found they have stated this kind of activity like a penalization but actually it is not. It is somehow new Google algo does not know where to place your site on particular keyword, so they have to shuffle in a time period, caused your site ranking bounced up-down. However, when your ranking bounced up, most of the time your domain name will be ranked #1 again. Weird
When I search my domain name (without the extension) my site is only on the fifth page. As far as I know, there is no other similar domain with another extension. I'm also nowhere to be found for all the other longtail keywords I was ranking well for. I understand that it's natural for certain "big" keywords to fluctuate a little, and I wouldn't worry if it was only that, but this is different and much worse for me... I also got no warning or message from Google Webmasters Tools. Are you supposed to get a message if they're penalizing you?
