I was installing a feature post plugin yesterday night. I've installed it, activate it tested it. I works fine, but i've removed the code from the website, as it didn't look good so i decided i would do it in the morning. When i got up my site was acting all stupid.
Firstly my feed looks completely awkward and subscribers can't read anything, nor subscribe: http://feeds.feedburner.com/zmemusic.

Also i can not login or regsiter, as a blank screen appears in my browser after i click login or register ( click here and try to register: http://www.zmemusic.com/wp-login.php?action=register it won't work so submit any email ). This is very annoying and i have to get this fixed ASAP. Please help me! Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I am not sure what version of WP you are using and what plugins you might have. However, I do have lots of problems with the latest 2.2. version, especially if WP-Cache is turned on - and even when it isn't. My suggestion would be to go to wordpress.org and search for similar problems or ask for help in the troubleshooting forum - especially if you are using 2.2.

    Hi,

I am not sure where you are hosted, but you can try to get a backup restored. My hosting provider, Hostgator, does a backup once a week over the weekend. Of course, I do daily backups of mine own and I keep a complete backup of my site on my computer for emergency purposes. Not sure what your situation is though. Remember though, you will lose all updates between now and your last backup.

    Hi,

I empathize. 2.2. is really buggy and I am surprised that there are not more warnings about this release. The whole WP community acts as though everything is kewl.

Anyway, to try to help you out. Are you able to get to your database through cpanel and get a copy of it backed up? If so, can you restore a clean version of WP with a clean template, and then restore the database? Just to get something going.

Sorry. Don't know the answer on the top of my head. I would have to do a bit of research to find where that info is stored. However, you might be able to do a fresh restore of the directory following the Upgrade instructions available on wordpress.org. Also, remember, try to make a backup of all of your modified files especially the config files. These are all in the upgrade instructions.

I think i've found the problem. The plugin that i've installed yesterday is called "The feature" and enables you to make posts as feature posts, i won't get in to more details as they're not relevant. The thing is i can't delete the plugin. I get an error: "Request denied.
Verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation". I don't get this if i delete other plugins. I've even set the permission to 777 and tried to delete it, but to no use. Any suggestions ? :((((

Glad it worked out. I just came back from my daily morning walk.

Plugins are really lethal. Most don't work ... and worse. I try to stick with the ones that are very commonly used - e.g. Akismet, Google Sitemap. There should definitely be more warnings about the use of plugins than there are now. I will make a point of posting warnings more frequently, because I don't think users are really aware of the potential problems of plugins.

Hope everything goes well for you today .. and the rest of the week.
