I ran a couple of independent travel site for the vacations I have conducted all these years. Let me know if there is anything I could improve.

    Thanks!

It's not bad but it feels really ad heavy. I can't really talk because mine is as well. You have done a good job of mixing the ads and content links with the color though. http://www.uluwatu.org/monkey-forest-road.shtml is a good example. I would love to know a impression/click/ctr count for a day on that site.

To me it looks like google ads mixed in with a little content. I am seeing more and more of these sites. There are thousands of them.

Does W3C compliancy help with rankings or anything like that?

Sorry, but I've been doing plenty of website without thinking about w3c, thanks though. Been there, not doing that. How about a quick check on w3c on google.com anyone?

mrbee, can't reveal much, but most of my travel sites get near to 10% CTR :) Anyway, to answer Trippen's comment, I've written my own contents and spent hours to edit the photos (resizing). I do agree the ads might be cluttered but I get decent income from it. To each his own.

Yeah I agree - way too much adsense, but if you get a good income from it..why the hell not eh! :)

    I'm loving the pics!

LOL, too much? The money is great though, hopefully.

Anyway, I do strive on good photos and self-written articles. The ads can distract, but it pays for my holidays (mostly).

What's up with the non-functional english-language navigation at the top?

Also, where can I go to see the Ketjak performed in Bali? Or some good Gamelan (I hate that damn Javanese Gamelan!)?

It is very dense on the index page!

Dear Mister, some of the top nav still disabled because I'm still writing it (as opposed to copying other articles on the web, right?). I promise they'll be online soon because the scratch articles are ready to be typed in.

I actually missed Kecak performance due to tight schedule (diving and stuff). How do you tell good Gamelan from a bad one?

Good site, adsense has a dominant presence, any ways if it means revenue to you.
I would suggest that on the bottom right where you are writing "The Balinese People, Information on the cultural background, language and religion.
    Transportation Info, Flying into Bali"
make it a link where some write up on these issues could come, else it does not seem to give any clue

Javanese gamelan is too fast. I get a headache! Balinese is slow and majestic.

One of my life's ambitions is to see the Ketjak (Kecak) performed live.

Stupid world politics have convinced my wife we can't go. =(

Mister, not once I was worried about the bombing. Bali is a HUGE island. I find it weird that for a land the size of, say Vermont, when a bomb drops in NYC, people don't go to Vermont, just an example.

The key is just to stay away from the easy targets. 2 bombings in Bali, we all know what the terrorists are looking for, don't we? Just look at Kuta and how it has transformed into a drunken street. There are many other things in Bali than good beer (well, I don't drink, so how would I know?)

Kecak dance can be found almost anyway, but the best place is probably in Uluwatu. Definitely gonna catch it next time.
