Unlike so many people saying here, don't advertise..It doesn't help much, but for a marginal increase in footfall as long as you keep advertising which would mean your margins will remain more or less the same..

Personally, I'd start a campaign with Yelp.ca (Canadian Yelp) and all of those social review sites. Over here, we also have UrbanSpoon, Merchant Circle and a few others. These sites rank high for local search terms and tend to cement themselves on SERPs. It would be great if you could get friends and happy customers to leave good reviews with 5-star ratings. Everything is about local search these days.

If location is a mayor problem, you could try the tele pizza approach - home delivery.

Thanks. Also, here is the website. Very basic but it's got a menu.

    http://www.gottsfishandchips.com/

From what I've seen, it's nowhere to be found on Google Search Canada for any keywords related to fish and chips. It's dead and buried in Google...just like it's physical location where nobody can find it.

Instead of spending money on advertising. Give away free meals buy one get one free.Place a local article in the paper it should be free. Free meal for the first 50 people every saturday for a month. Then everyone would talk about how good the meal was. They do need a web site.pm for details about how to get a good web site.

That flash intro is killing your opportunity for a google search.

Have them lose that part of the site.

If you want a SURE-FIRE draw, do something like a kids' night and advertise that - have entertainment, have special menu items at special prices for kids and market on all the local ad space you can get your hands on promoting the first Kids' Night. If it's entertaining and reasonably affordable, people will start coming back to your restaurant and becoming regulars.

to have a sucessful resturant that depend on a lot of things for example

1- the location of the resturant
2- how you treat your customers
3- how your resturant looks like

It might sound crazy....but get a kid in a fish suit with a sign. It works very well for a few small restraunts in my town.

I agree that this could be a good idea. I would have never though of it in a million years.

You could hire a company that handles the employee for 15.00 per hour and just draw in business.

No need. I can grab a fish costume after work from a halloween clearance sale and walk around the plaza with a sign. Maybe I can bribe my neighbour Danbrook's kids with free ice cream to help me out.:)

    I agree.

Flash intro pages are the most useless thing in web design history.

I never got why any webmaster would do such a thing like that.

    Oh well.

Me too thinks offline advertising is the way to go for in this case. Once you are making sufficient money then you switch to online advertising and websites advertising etc. I would create flyers and posters and complimentary promotional material like pens diaries calendars etc. and distribute them to customers. I would post the signs at local meeting places where there is public movements.

Did you try Google local? http://www.google.com/local/add/analyticsSplashPage?gl=US&hl=en-US

That is potentially several numbers of hits..My ex-company saw amazing results with that..

sponsor local events, or give out free samples of your food. like what they do at the food court in the mall.

also have them sign up at merchantcircle.com
