My articles and content are being copied!

Discussion in 'General Business' started by zee, Aug 25, 2008.

Many webmasters are stealing my content from article directories and are republishing them on their sites without any due credits. A guy copied my whole site and when I say copy, I mean File>Save Us and uploaded it on a free server. What the heck am I suppose to do? My unique content is seriously in danger! More importantly, my site's credibility and rankings!

    Please advice!
    Z

You can report that website to Google and let it drop from the search results.

    That stinks!
I had that happen a couple years ago too with someone who copied nearly every article I wrote.

Definitely, you will want to report this. Especially, if someone has jacked your whole site lol

As far as the content goes though, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. Chances are good that the content in question was already indexed when
it was placed on your site so, I don't think there is much of a chance of
the content being a great help to the thief that stole it.

Sad to hear that and so hard to get a solution. Hope Google will act immediately on your case.

But what if he started being copied as soon as or before his site was indexed by Google, how could Google be sure that his content is truly his and not copied one from site that he claim is coping him ?
This is probably not the case, but i am just asking.

Or better, what if site that is copying him is having better PR and is more frequently searched then the site of an original writer ?

Report it to Google as other members said.. but I think Google don't respond to it often.
If your original articles are Cached first, the all those copied articles are marked as Duplicate content and Google b an those sites sooner or later.

I think no need to worry about that, google technology is out of our mind.
Google not only say that duplicate content is not allow, they have technology to investigate and punish the duplicate as well.

That is not true in reality. Duplicate content will show up, but in the supplemental pages. Whose article is shown at the top doesn't depend on who indexed it first, but whose article has got more linking power and whose website/pages are better optimized for search engines. So the best thing you can do now is to optimize your website more and more so that the thiefs website doesn't outrank you, or did that happen already?

P.S. There are people/groups out there who's whole mission is just that -- stealing content. They search for new and yet not indexed pages, copy-paste it into their website and optimize it...so even if somewhere in the future google pays more attention to whose page was indexed first, the original author may still be screwed.

A complaint to Google DMCA is all you have to do. Google take the necessary action against the duplicate site. It still works good. I have already gone through the same situation.
Go to www dot google dot com/dmca dot html

Put this is your body tag - its to disable Copy and Paste

    ondragstart="return
    false" onselectstart="return false"
    Code (markup):
Of course they can still view source, but it's some level of protection.

Thats 0 level of protection, anyone who cares enough to copy it can and will. Its just like the music or movie industry trying to stop piracy, its impossible.

we cant stop these crap eaters. You can report to google some only. Make a lot of contextual links in your post, so when they copy them and post, you will have some new backlinks :D.
If i republish post from other, i always put the backlink to his site as my appreciate (of course without rel="nofollow") and email tell him. if he dsn't aggree, i have to delete that post.
