Hey I'm pretty new to the forum, and this is my first post. I'm looking for an honest opinion, some criticisms and some ideas on how I can better market my website. Its small and I know there are a ton of people working in the field. The design is better then it was but still written in a WYSIWYG editor. The name of the company is Big Blue Turtle. It's not completely finished yet. but the link is: http://www.bigblueturtle.com Thanks again -- Matt (Big_Blue_Turtle)
I think it's too general to be real effective, it looks like just 1 big billboard. People tune out advertisements, so with no real meat (content), I think most people will bail out of the site. Also, if you're directing PPC traffic to the site, your quality score will be very low with all the affiliate links. That means you will pay much higher for your CPC bids. You will have to mask the affiliate links and add more keyword rich content relative to what your targeting in your PPC campaigns. If you could focus on 1 particular offer at a time and write content rich landing pages for each of those offers, you will probably be more successful. Give the user (and the PPC bot) more than just banners and you should improve your conversions. Reviews, pre-sale information, faqs, etc.
You wanna walk me through some of that? I know what Meta-Tags are, but whats PPC? I don't pay anything to advertise for these people, maybe I'm missing something? Please Inform.
Meta tags tell people and the search engines what the site offers, ie look at the top of your browser and it should say My affiliate based site, that is the title of the page and plays a big role in tellin the like of google what your page is about. - here is the code I use - <title>Holiday cottage Cornwall, Devon and Cornwall holiday cottage</title> <meta name="Description" content="Book your Holiday cottage Cornwall or holiday cottage in Devon, Bed and Breakfast, Self Catering, Guesthouse, Hotels." /> <meta name="Keywords" content="Holiday cottage Cornwall, holiday accommodation Devon and Cornwall, holiday rentals Devon and Cornwall, self catering Devon and Cornwall, B&B Devon and Cornwall, Bed and Breakfast Devon and Cornwall, apartments Devon and Cornwall, vacation rentals Devon and Cornwall" /> write your text for people but consider the search engines as well. They need to be told what your page is about. There is loads of help on this board for you, and if it were me I would consider an affiliate blog. Blogs use a script which in basic terms is ready to go and food for users and search engines. It will also allow you to play with ideas and tweak and imporve your skills. Look at the page code via the view option >> page source of a blog and see how its formed. There is a blog in my sig. Your design is basic, much better than my first attempt, but while you are running your blog and learning about SEO and coding you can develop your code and presentation, you can aslo earn a few $$ and buy some software like dreamweaver.
