Just wanted to share this. But don't get excited... I haven't worked with AdWords for at least 2 years now, although I did manage to make $14,000 in one month (about 3 years ago) with Debt Consolidation leads. So recently I ran AdWords ads for 2 weeks again. About 200 clicks and 10,000 impressions, $16.00 spent. (Average click 0.05-0.10c average). The numbers may be slightly off. I advertised office supplies and personalized santa claus letters. I forwarded about 200+ clicks to these two affiliates (I have a cj.com account) yet I received no commissions. My ads were decent, and informative... yet no returns. I guess it takes a lot more experimentation with AdWords before seeing results. My question is... in your experience did changing ad text improve your affiliate commissions? My second question is... what has improved affiliate commissions more: 1) better ad text copy, or 2) changing the paid ad keywords? If 2), then any specific General guidelines on what makes a difference? Thanks
I would recommend reading on Goolge about negative keywords. 10,000 impressions is good but that could be 10,000 potential window shoppers. Also the cost per click average will be dependant upon a number of factor. i.e. the more people wanting to be top. If your chosen area is full of competitors then you will be paying over £1 a click to be there! Imagine someone was searching for free santa letters.....you dont want them to click on your link if your charging as you will pay for someone to click on and then "im not paying, i wanted a free santa letter", they then bounce from your site and this will effect you site bounce rate and give google a bad impression. If however you had "free" as a negative keyword then you not have appeared, hence saving you money, the impressions will drop but the clicks will be more positive.
