I am very new to Adwords.

few days ago I started a campaign using very low bids because there are no competitors for my keyword

    It's pending status yet.
Doesn't adwords approve lower bids ($.02)?

Bids have nothing to do with the approval/disapproval process. The system automatically approves the vast majority of ads. What makes an ad go into manual review are some words you use in ads. You are put into the manual review process and the time this takes depends on how many are ahead of you. This is usually not very long, one business day or two for text ads. Note that I said business day. If you submitted an ad that goes into manual review on a Saturday, it may not be looked at until Tuesday. Also, ALL image ads will be manually reviewed, something you don't say if it's a text or image ad. Again, time will depend on your position in the queue but image ads take longer on average to be reviewed, 3 to 5 business days is not unusual.

When starting my account they took..........many days to approve my account. I got upset and called the 1-800 number and they were very helpful in explaining to me how the system works.

It took them 5 weeks to approve image ads for the content network.

Skip over to the Google forums for plenty a tales of woe!

Image ads take forever nowadays. Used to get them approved right away, but now that Google is hell bent on keeping a lot of stuff out of their system, they take forever to even look at them.

    Just be patient with them.

Meantime, start up a campaign on MSN Adcenter and FAcebook Ads while you wait...

After two or three days, contacting support seems to work. They usually review it more-or-less immediately and send an assurance that other ads will be seen more quickly (which they won't, meaning that you have to go through support again and again).

I dont think the lower bid is the problem for getting your ad approved. Sometime it will take more than a week to approve the ad and ofcourse you can contact them via email, they will respond very soon.
