Earnings go up and down. If you want higher paying clicks, search for a higher paying niche. If I were you, I would search for more traffic though.. which will result in more clicks being generated :D

Did the change occure on the 1st of December?

If so then most likely what happened was that one or more advertisers whose ads got shown on your page had their ads expire at the end of the month (many Adwords campaigns are set up for 1 month) and you're now left with lower-paying advertisers.

The only thing you can do is sit tight and wait - or try to change the content of your site a bit to attract higher-paying ads.

My Adsense and especially my Kontera earnings are way up the last few weeks.. I assumed it was due to advertisers targeting holiday shopping.. i also assumed that most publishers would see an upward trend.

You get good days, bad days, good months, bad months.

Just keep working on QUALITY content, link building, get more traffic in, and you will see Adsense prevail

there are so many reasons for it. The adsense ads are rotating. Some pay high and some pay low. Sometimes you might get one click that cost more than 5 clicks that you usually get. Also, maybe some of those clicks are invalid. Eventhough adsense shows you there are 5 clicks in there, but 3 of them are invalid. Last time i saw in my adsense that i got 1 click with $0, so Google didn't count that click.
