My ads yield sites which don't have co-op ads?

Shawn, let me express my thanks for this amazing tool.

My site validated an hour ago, so it’s pretty new to this co-op.

As soon as the first ad showed up, it begged to be clicked. Surprisingly, the page that came up did not seem to have anything looking like a co-op ad. Reloading my page caused the co-op ad to change, but reloading the target page did nothing. Repeated tries yielded fewer sites, which seemed to have co-op ads, then not, (by a large margin).

Another pattern appeared. Those sites with obvious co-op ads looked responsible. Some integrated your ads into their format, which has the effect of legitimizing them. They placed co-op ads prominently. The ones seeming not to display the ads were more or less spammy. I found things like “link to us” pages in your face, while the “resource” pages were sort of hidden, or even non-existent. One site had almost completely hidden (very light grey on white) text on the home page. The large paragraph was mostly a repeated list of keywords.

I am very new to this stuff, and admit that getting to this point was mostly luck. Maybe I do not understand the situation. Just the same it seemed odd, and worth mentioning.

    Regards,
    Larry Weiss

if you have weight in the co-op, you can place links to any sites that meet the TOS. So, you can have ads on site "A" and point all of your link weight to site "B"

    Thanks Chachi.

Its obvious that you are a workaholic, but you can take a lesson from me, because I am a NY workaholic, and so am working three hour later even than you.

II do not understand the significance of your answer. I doubt that I have much weight 8,000 + points, whatever that means. I could multiply it by 5, and also bring on some more powerful sites which I control. So maybe 100,000. I do not have a frame of reference, so don't know what it means.

Regardless. I can always throw my weight at something. The goal here is to get it back. Like in the movie, I am happy to pay it forward, but it looks like most of the payees here are out grab all they can and return nothing.

So, anyway, I want to be constructive, and a good member of this community.

Clearly you were offering some kind of advice, and I would like a clarification.

If things are as I suspect, we need a cop, maybe a whole police force. I am volunteering some time, because this is too good a thing, to have some folks spoil it.

Its too late to keep typing. Lets talk tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Larry

You should report any spammy sites to this forum. It is a coop so for now we are all the "police".

Chachi is saying that when you place ads on a site you get weight. You then can use that weight to show ads that are on ANY domain. So a webmaster can place the ads on their site, then use the weight to "Give" ads for all their clients. When YOU see the clients ad and click on it, this is why you may not see coop ads there
It doesn't work that way, you get the benefit of your weight. Period.

You also get a benefit if the ad is placed prominently or in the footer barely being seen. Google still sees them. Personally I don't disguise or blend ads but that is up to the site owner. These don't constitute a complaint. If you see an ad on your site that violates the TOS, then DO report it here. It will be gone before you know it
