    I would suggest you to use the same background color for your ads.
    All I see on this site is AdSense. Try to provide some value. The visitors will run away :(

    placement is good and you can add one link unit on your left side , under menu

    LINK color orange
    TEXT & URL color black or dark grey
    (so the ads not all one color of text)

    put scraper on the left, with the riht blending...make it a three column layout if you can put the search on top of the calendar...maybe a half banner between posts...:D
