Hey, I've absorbed a hell of a lot of information over the past couple of days on all kinds of things thanks to DP but one thing I simply cannot do is improve my CTR. Right now its <1%. I just read that 2%-3% would be the 'average' depending on the site. I would really appreciate if you fine people could go over my ad placement and suggest ways that I could improve my CTR with better positioning, etc. My website is located at ginger-ninja.net << Can't post live links yet. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Update My website is about website design and development. The main branch of my site is the open source website templates I create and release to the community for free. I currently get on average 450-700 unique hits, 1000-2000 page views and between 4000-15000 hits daily (depending on whether I release a new template that day). Also it has a pagerank of 5 (went from 0>5 in one update). What kind of adsense statistics should I be looking to get from these traffic stats?
First the link unit on the top looks not much visible, make the link white in color.. Place a large rectangle (336 x 280) or banner ad below the title of the page, for ex. in this page http://www.ginger-ninja.net/2007/01/23/html-validator-plugin-for-firefox/ place the ad block below HTML Validator plugin for Firefox this title, I believe you're using wordpress, in the Single Post template place the adsense code below The ad colors are ok.. hope definetely this will improve your CTR..
place image-only ads on the far right of the site title place text/image ads after the 1st , 2nd and, 3rd posts move the validation thingy that is on the right side over to the bottom left below the menu cause its distracting, and i'm not sure how useful that information is to your visitors (unless it's part of the 1st post) let me know how you make out -siteseer
Thank you Netjobs, Siteseer. I've made the recommendations you made so hopefully i'll see a change in the near future. Thank you for helping out.
I'd be quite tempted to move the link unit down to below the Ginger Ninja title; maybe have it directly to the right of "contact". (I have a habit of scrolling down below the header straight away on a website, I have a feeling that many people do this now (though it could just be me
Thanks for the tip Deano but according to my channels the ad bar at the top has been my most clicked. So for the time being i'm gonna leave it where it is. However in the near future i'll be sure to remember your idea.
So far no better CTR and at 8 cents a click I feel i'm just another victim of smart pricing. Thanks Google! I hate you!
i dont see your ads. did you remove them? dont get discouraged place your ads like i suggested. leave them there for a week or so before you toss the towel. good luck
colour choosing for ads is good but if i were you , i choose square ads units instead of 468*60 ads units
