You are not supposed to open a new account to complain these things. You are referring to this thread? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=138286 Complain everything here : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/sendmessage.php
I have had my email account stolen in the past, and I considered taking it serious, but I held strong beliefs that it was a friend of one of my friends, so I decided not to take any action. I was an administrator at a forum at the time, and the forum was hacked at the same point, and a member of a rival forum (the friend of a friend) eventually told me my password, etc. I had IP logs that existed through the forum, but the forum owner gave the site away to a member of the rival forum, and then those logs were inaccessable and later removed once the forum changed hands. I ignored it and moved on, but it upset me quite a bit. You stated that you sold him the hosting account with the site, so how did he steal it, and more importantly, how did he get his money back using PayPal, without some type of dispute coming across you. How did your email end up in this mess, and was your email account connected to your PayPal account? My biggest concern is that allege your email account and hosting account both were stolen you are upset about your DP account?
As soon as you sort out your hosting (any decent host would change your passwords for you in a matter of minutes) just use the "Forget Your Password?" link here and change it. You don't really need Shawn to step in.
Just change your passwords...A legal fight probably isn't worth it. Talk to Paypal about the money although seeing as how you were foolishly using one password for all of your accounts including Paypal, you probably paid for a very valuable lesson.
That would be the best approach, take all information down that you can. You should have all information required before you take any legal action. Once you get all of the information, email the member once to notify them that you are allowing them a period of time before you take legal action, just for legal records it might be better to warn them. After you warn them, take legal action, but make sure you know who they are, and have everything documented. Is your email account in any way connected to your ISP? If it is, you can get your email back, if not, there is no way to get it back I don't think unless you have security questions, which may have been changed depending on the email service provider. As for your DP account, you can't get it back without Shawn's intervention, unless you get your email back. Best of luck.
That makes no sense, just delete the old email and create a new one. On the other hand, if you sold a site and you used the email from that site for your Paypal, Forum Registrations etc that is beyond dumb. Im honestly trying to understand the logic of this
she can not steal my paypal account, and i am going to tell someone here be careful when you do a business via paypal, not just to complain.yes it is an important lesson to me
yfs1, his or her problem is that he or she used the same password for the hosting account, email, PayPal, and DP account, so in the process of transferring the site, all of the other known accounts were stolen. winsonlu, can you explain your above post, and try to look over your grammer, so members can better understand your posts, they can be more beneficial when they understand what you are stating.
Its well known in car insurance that if you leave the keys in the ignition and the car gets stolen they call you stupid and don't pay the claim. In this case if you give somebody your password then there is not much you can do to stop them taking over all your accounts.
Except he is the actual owner...If I give my host a call and explain what happened they would change the hosting passwords in a second and give me back access. He says he now has that access but not to the email addresses atributed to them. It sounds strange he can't just go into cPanel and change all the passwords on those if he has the domains (Hopefully he didn't keep those with the same company). The worst someone can "steal" is the domain names, as hosting isn't a physical thing that can be transferred. Someone else here gave their password to a scammer and they were able to quickly report the domains and get them back. Also: That seems to indicate the "thief" is on the same IP address. How is that possible?
I dont get this thread at all,how can your account get stolen? You must be about 11 because most people of a mature age dont have the same password for every site.
