My 6 Month Goal: Break Alexa 100,000

    Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to share my goal for the rest of the 2008 year, to break Alexa's top 100,000 websites! (my blog is the first link in my signature)

I am currently hovering around 200,000, and I really think I can break 100k within 6 months. I just launched a new blog design (let me know what you think) and I think that will greatly help the process. The new design is much stickier and allows for better monetization as well. I wrote up a quick post about the changes here: http://internetbusinessdaily.net/redesigning-your-blog/.

I really think I can break 100k, and I will work my a** off to try to do it.

Obviously, if anyone wants to help me with my goal by linking to my site, it would be greatly appreciated:).

    Thanks!!!

Its good to see that you have a goal however why not have a goal worth achieving, sorry if i sound rude, but alexa does not really mean much its just a figure why not have a goal of lets say "To double traffic in 6 months" by concentrating on this Alexa rank will surely go up as a result too, and the benefits will be much better.

good point. I only am using Alexa as the benchmark for my goal. I could easily say "double traffic" as well. Right now, I get between 600-1000 uniques per day.

Let's say by the end of the year I would like to be getting between 1500-2000 uniques per day. How's that:)

You can easily break the Alexa top 100,000 ranking within a month with a tiny little bit of know-how, depending on how often they update their rankings, within a month is very achievable.

If you get that much traffic, you should be in the Alexa top 100,000. I have slightly less than you and I'm at 115k

No, it depends on how much traffic you can get from people using the Alexa toolbar. Promote it in free directories, webmaster forums and the like, you'll break 100k in a couple of weeks;)

Interesting. I only used Alexa as a goal to directly relate to traffic.

My goal was to double traffic, and double alexa (half). I'm at 800 uniques per day, I want to be at 1500

Wrong. Alexa changed their algorithms so that toolbar users have less value. Check the link for more info on Alexa's ranking change.

lmao. Your post just made me cry with laugher (metaphorically, of course, but still funny).

Look at all the directories here. Then look at big sites. I can tell you straight off that Alexa rank is a farce.

I got a few sites which receive less than 1000 uniques per day and are ranked within the top 500k. I have a site which receives over 2k uniques every single day yet its currently around 550k or there abouts. Load of bollocks and is just a gimmick for users to download the Alexa toolbar.

    End of story.

Its easy man. You'll make it IF people like your content, you have a unique design, a decent amount of traffic. My own forum (www.whooked.com) shot up from 2,xxx,xxx to 176,xxx. And its just going up. There's no stopping.

Its pretty easy and once you get it started it goes in auto-drive. Good luck!

what else would they use as a metric?

thanks, i will keep pumping out the content. any links are apprecaited:)

I thought it was common that alexa is a joke and can easily be jobbed.

Oh, I'm not advocating Alexa - it's a fun little thing and has some fancy charts. It doesn't completely depend on the toolbar anymore. ITS GOT PANEL ESTIMATES (fancy word for guessing)!

A unique design brings in more traffic? I better get back to creating a new theme, then.

Well no. A nice, user-friendly design makes sure that your visitors don't just go away within a few seconds and never come back to your site again. You wanna make them your regular, returning visitors.

Get what I mean? No one likes an ugly site.
