I also lost all my SERPs about two weeks ago (I posted about it on this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1257304). My site can still be found in Google search results, but on the fifth, sixth or seventh page for keywords I was ranking #1 for. Even when searching for my own site's name (which is unique) in quotes I'm on the 28th spot. I panicked at first, but now I'm just waiting and hoping my site will regain its SERPs. At least it feels good to know I'm not alone.
Some of my sites got hit today at about 1pm lunchtime, a few of them are on the same IP but dont link to each other and all got their Google positions moved from #1 to about postion 30th+ Lets jut hope its part of a reorder process, as I have seen this happen before. My biggest site seems to eb fine and just got mentioned on Bloomberg with a backlink today! So who knows whats going on right now.
I also experience a lot of fluctuations lately.. In my case it started in late January, when my site dissappeared for its keyword rankings for 10 days. Then it came back for 2 days and disaeppeard again. Then it came back 8 days later and stayed for 3 days. Then it disappeared again for 5 days and is back again now since 2. However - There is always work involved - Even when a site is 4 years old. I was constantly improving my site: what I did: 1. optimized the internal linking structure (don't overdo nofollow) 2. added a sitemap and added it to the robots.txt 3. removed duplicate content issues on my attached blog by "noindex"ing tag, category and archive pages 4. got some high pr links and submitted articles for link building 5. was adding content to the blog on a daily basis
To lorocreative: I'm curious to know more about not overdoing nofollow as you mention. What type of effects will "too many" nofollow links have? Any info would is appreciated.
I wasn't ranking that well yet, but all of my pages were indexed for months now. They just disappeared. There is no google listing for them anymore! I'm hoping they come back up soon. I've done nothing wrong either.
Honestly I don't get why you would ask a bunch of strangers. You know the site better than all of us combined, so chances are if you think about it and do a bit of research, you can figure out yourself what the cause of the problem is.
Don't sweat it, just wait it out a bit and see if your SERP returns. If it doesn't return within a couple more weeks, then you may have a problem. Most likely it is just a temporary, though, and Google is updating.
The problem looks to be temporary in nature and it would be worthwhile to wait a little and I am sure you would get your serps back. Your site looks really genuine and there appears nothing on the surface that would annoy google. Just wait it out a couple of days, before trying to trace the problem.. Regards, RightMan
Depending on how long it's been since you noticed the problem, it might be a short-term thing. Google occasionally gets weird with their rankings; about a year ago I had a site vanish completely for two days, only to reappear ranked even better than before. I don't pretend to understand their inner workings.
mine disappeared from serps since 12 march and it is a week now i am hoping it will come back in two weeks or so. i had 2 times like this before and most of them lasted for 2 weeks. so i wish yours will come back soon and me too.
