Contest My $250 contest has barely any entries. Why?

Is it because I have it priced at $250 and people don't think it is a real contest?

Over 300 views and 7 entries. Did I do something wrong? I just figured that offering better money would bring more entries.

To those who have entered I like what I am seeing, and to those who have not entered, good luck.

I figure $250 would be better than a $25 tshirt mock up or $50 logo.

Guess I may be wrong though.

Nowadays there are a lot of people that start contests and never pick winners. DP removed negative/positive feedback so there is no easy way to check whether the person holding the contest is reliable. So most designers just don't even bother. Even with legit contests, it's usually a huge waste of time for the designer because they are not guaranteed money for their work.

I am going to pay the winner because I would be very wrong not to do so.
That being said. I will guarantee my contest if I know the winner is willing to work with me on multiple revisions if I feel there needs to be said revisions. I think that is a pretty simple premise to be honest. Do the work, I pay you and if I need revisions we work together.

I sincerely hope you get a lot of entries and more importantly, something you really like! I hope my last post didn't come off the wrong way either. I was just trying to explain why you may not have a lot of entries so far, none of which is your fault. Just a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone :(

I can personally vouch for @Jay Turner as he was very communicative and payed me instantly when I won the previous contest he held. So there shouldn't be any trust issues here.

Well said.. adding to that, with my 6 years of experience as a designer at DP, i have seen various generations of designers as well as contest holders. Designers these days are more inclined towards the contest offering less money but are expected to pick a winner in 24 hours or so, since they have a better chance of sliding in a clipart, that obviously won't take long whereas on the other hand the latest gen of Contest Holders are happy offering "a quick $6 contests for anything from a "Custom" logo to a book cover"

The forum other than the traits mentioned below lacks management as well -
Prepaid contests/Guaranteed prize money, blind contests (only the CH can see the design), something like a design court - where you can report so called inspirations.

    Regards
    Sikka ;)

You didn't put me off at all. It is just a shame that many people are avoiding this because of those bad apples.

That tends to be the way with society now days.

I look at it this way. Those who don't submit an entry will lost a chance at $250 and the possibility of return business constantly from myself, and enter the $25 contest and also give those of you who have entered a better chance at winning

    Their loss and your gains.

    To those that entered kudos

Dear customer, the design you want is a little difficult for some designers that do not participate.

But in my case, please have a little patience, I am also preparing my design for you and I hope you enjoy. (A few hours will be ready)

    Thanks

It's hard to draw in vector format. Your logo is not for many of us.

Vector is the preferred and industry standard when it comes to logo and branding.

If I want to do a banner for the business or cardboard printouts I need to make sure I do not lose quality of the design because of the raster and pixel issues that arise.

Vector is the only way we can do this.

I have made raster photos larger and a lot of the quality was lost.

I have never had an issue enlarging vector format.

As stated it is industry standard to us AI, EPS or CDR for logo and business branding and because I am spending this amount of money and plan to enlarge the photo I will need vector for the format.
