My 1st affiliate site. Can I get some direction?

    Here is my first Affiliate site. There is no content, yet. I just got it going a few minutes ago. www//defiantgamer//com. It is using wordpress.

    I was thinking about promoting some of those unlimited download sites through clickbank, plus maybe some more offers from other networks.

    Anyway, how would you monitize it? Would you just post game reviews and make ONE page to promote my main products and link to that page in each post? And then put other offers like gamefly in the sidebar? Does that sound like a plan?
    I am brand new to this, so I hope I am thinking in the right direction

    Great plan YO...

    Everything you try can be good for a newbie, you learn things only when you get burned:)

    Wish you luck!

    Yeah seems like a nice plan, there are a lot of people who are making tons of money out of review sites.

    But if you are doing a review site let it only be a review site not a million things in one.

    I would put like 3 products on the first page with your review of each, you know like stars and all the good things.

    Good luck

    Right! But, I dont know enough about web design to make a review site. I have to use wordpress and themes to get a decent site.
    I want to make my main page the product page with NO sidebars or anything. I want a link in the header to the regular loking blog with posts and all that. Each post would link to the product page.

    Is that doable within that theme?

    I'm assuming you're trying to get organic traffic. If this doesn't make sense, please tell me where.

    #1: Find product you want to promote. Make sure it has high commission.

    #2: Find your keywords (what people search). Make guesses on which kws convert. Make sure it isn't high competition. Product name kws work best.

    #3: Now you purchase your domain name based on one of the kws. This will make you rank easily for the kw. You can skip this step but it will be harder to rank. But, let's skip #3, since I'm assuming you don't want to purchase a new domain name.

    #4: Review Template Layout. Rid the pink. When in doubt, go with blue. On one side of your page, you will make your "Top 3 Unlimited Download Sites". Then you will put in the picture, a few ratings for each product, and a link to the website, and also a link to your full review. You want to get them to click.

    Pretend below is a column:

    #1: PRODUCT NAME
    PICTURE
    Value: (5 stars -> picture)
    Cost: 5 stars
    ...: 5 stars
    ..... : 5 stars
    Full Review
    Visit Website

    #2: PRODUCT NAME
    PICTURE
    Value: (4 stars -> picture)
    Cost: 3 stars
    ...: 4 stars
    ..... : 4 stars
    etc.
    Full Review
    Visit Website

    Don't know how to make templates? Better start learning, or you're seriously restricting yourself.

    #5: Content. Best way to get quick traffic is to target product names. There are 2 ways you can do this. First is write about your personal experience.

    For your blog:
    Your title is the keyword.
    Most people here just lie about their experiences with the product. For example, "Acne Free in 3 Days" is an e-book on clickbank that is a scam. People pretend they had success with it -> they trick other people into purchasing it because their visitors believe it works.

    The other way is to make a regular review of the product, talking only about all of its good points.

    When writing content, attract the visitor through one of these things -> fear, desire, happiness, money. Fear works best. "Title: PRODUCT NAME SCAM!!" Convince them to buy. At the end, place like a '60% off if you click here' link just to ensure your visitor clicks.

    #5: Get your blog indexed. htttp://www.digg.com/submit. Wait 3 - 5 days.
    #6: Link build
    #7: Cloak your links

    make a links.php file. Type this in:

    <?php

    $link1 = "";
    $link2 = "";
    $link3 = "";

    header("Location: " . ${"link". $_GET['num']});
    ?>

    then for your outbound links on your blog just write: links.php?num=1, links.php?num=2 etc.

    The pink is different! Looks fresh! Good luck with your affiliate promotions. I started like that and it can actually work if you put the time in. I am no tech genius myself and I have found that for web design it works out best if you either simply Buy (if you have the cash on hand) or find a template to download that you like or even find a sales page or other design guy to build you something.

    I remember my fist site, I spent like a week trying to make sure it looked right and realized that If I had spent that time doing what I did best I could have generated the money needed to pay someone to do what they did best. I would have ended up with a better design faster and I would not have been so burned out (which is what you will find is the hardest thing about the affiliate game... You do a lot of work and testing at first and see no results untill you get it right).

    Anyway, here is a site that has some decent free word press templates:

    http//wordpresstemplates//name

    (REPLACE // with :// first and then . )

    Check out the business category for templates suitable for reviews. Best of luck and don't get discouraged is things start slow.... Keep Plugging away :)
