I changed my MX Records as instructed by Google to active the email apps service in which you can have users sign up for email accounts @yourdomain.com. The following is what I changed the MX Records to from a blank list basically: MX Server address Priority ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 10 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 20 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 20 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30 ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30 ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30 PHP: Obviously something didn't work out as the site is now re-directing to the DNS registrar's homepage. I've now deleted all the changes I made and the MX Records is empty again, as it was before. Would this revert the damage I've done and in 24h or so make it re-direct back to the actual site? This is my main priority at the moment. I'd like to know if all I need to do is wait or there's something else I need to do as well.
Really? It didn't say that in the instructions. So why is it that by changing these mail exchange records made the domain re-direct to my internet registrar page instead?
Oh you know what's strange. I just checked my DNS and it was pointing to that of the internet registrar's internet.bs in this case. I don't understand how it could have changed when I only changed the MX records yesterday. Thank you for the help links.. I'll look more into this before attempting again.
How are you changing the MX records? Are you do it directly from the zone record, or some type of interface that your Registrar provides?
My Registrar provides an interface, here is the screenshot: I did notice at the top it says that their DNS servers will be used for selected domains and after updating the MX records, that's what the DNS was changed to, but why?? I have my own ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com DNS which I use.. I see no reason why they should have changed it automatically?
