Must shift click adsense links? Seems wrong

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by yepyep, Aug 2, 2008.

I have added google adsense to my site & I have been told by users that the only way they worked was by shift clicking the link to open in a new page. Shouldn't they be able to simply click the ad unit and go to the ad instead of shift clicking?

    Thx for the help.

you do not need to shift click. it counts as a click by just clicking on it.

Y, but when you click it it does nothing, no ad & it doesn't seem to give click credit.

I had a few ppl check it this morning & by this afternoon no clicks, so it's not registering.

Perhaps they are being registered as fraudulent clicks.

Doesn't sound right to me.... if the ads are showing, they work. I'd assume fraudulent clicks as well.

I put the ads at the bottom to make sure they are working right first - would you mind taking a look & seeing if it works normally in explorer?

If G assume fraud clicks, then you can get into trouble.

If the clicks are not showing up chances are they are fraudulent clicks as recognized by Google.. for get it and move on.

I thought someone might know or have had the same problem here re: ad behavior when they clicked on it - they had to shift click to get the ad to show - straight clicking didn't work.

So thx for the input regardless.

Thx - not the stats that are my main concern - that the click doesn't launch the ad - odd. Apparently, only a shift click launches the ad.

I'm not trying to piss you guys off - didn't see this issue addressed elsewhere.

are you testing this out with your own ads? if so, you might want to stop as it is against TOS. Alert google. tell them something is up...many can see this as a way for you to try to get them to click on your ads for "testing" alert google.

I don't even see any ads on the site.

Edit: Code is there, but the ads aren't showing.
