Must have plug-ins for wordpress?

    It's been a while since I've been in the blogging game and I know times change with everything. I'm planning on opening a blog soon and I was wondering if people could point me in the direction of plug-ins that they feel are a MUST HAVE for wordpress.

    I was using peters custom anti-spam but the new version of wordpress messes it up. Anyone know of a good alternative anti-spam word plugin for wordpress?
