Not true, you can be a Catholic within days of birth, they make you a member through one of their rituals. Being a Christian involves personal faith, no ritual required.

If truth be told, the number of catholics is greatly exaggerated. There may be 10s of millions of cathloics in Europe, most of these are in name only and are probably athiests or do not give a damn about catholocism. So the 17% is more like about 6 to 8%, no more. Here in England, no one goes near the churches. The only people that go to them seem to be people of African origin and even then these are usually immigrants.

Tbarr, like many other self-proclaimed Christians (many on this forum), has appropriated the right to judge other Christians unto himself, cientificoloco. It's a common mantra of self-righteousness to declare who is, or who isn't a follower of Christ, though this is in contradiction to the Christian text. Flawed, but it exists. Nothing new.

    Hey Paul,
Was there any inaccuracy in what I wrote in that post? Read my post before you begin your personal attacks.

Yes, there was an inaccuracy, otherwise I wouldn't have corrected it. Catholics profess belief in Jesus Christ as a deity, the savior of mankind, the Son of God. They call themselves Christians. They are Christians. I'm no longer a Christian, but it does beg the question that for centuries after the death of Christ the Catholic Church was Christianity; the Reformation was a human construct, as much as any other, to declare a particular belief as to what being a Christian means. A particular, but not peremptory, belief.

My response was not a personal attack, it's a fact. You have appropriated to yourself the right to judge other Christians as to whether they are, or are not, Christians. And the definition of self-righteousness is "a confidence in one's own righteousness, especially vis-a-vis the righteousness of others." If these facts trouble you, perhaps you should more carefully consider what you say.

I will say I consider blatantly calling the forum's Catholics, who profess their Christianity, to be not Christians (their faith's declaration notwithstanding) to be a personal attack, myself.
