MusicTubers.Com - is it worth 2-days work? please review it!

Hi,

I was bored during this weekend so I decided to set up something completely new for me, music related website: MusicTubers.Com

Saturday evening I catched the idea, bought a domain, prepared scripts and components, imagined some desired desing and run base engine for the first time.
Sunday evening&night: I did all script work, made layout, started to optimalise the website and pasted some ads to look more colourfull Before finishing I added it to digg, stumbleupon and created 2-3 links at my websites and forum signatures.
Today: website got indexed very quickly (Google site:200), I've been fixing many bugs until now (f.e. friendly META didn't work)

So please review my new site and review: was it worth my work?
how's layout and general opinion?

The site looks nice. I like layout,. Catchy domain title. I say, You can continue to add new things.

 

site looks ok but you might want to fill up the center content as the left menu is way too large.

 

I'm listening right now The Doors-Riders on the storm. I checked out Roy Orbison, my all time favorite. I will book mark this one and be back often. Good Job!

 

the website still have known some bugs to fix it because two or three evenings were all the time I spent on it.

I will shorten left menu (thanks Parkie), because yesterday I made full list of Artists ('view more' option) and there's no need to keep them all at the homepage. I decided to rich right column (f.e. tags cloud) - what useful should I insert there? any advices?

Nice site, looks clear. I think the artists section looks too long, try to decrease its content.

 

i think the left nav bar is too long as well
but the top content is good

Nice layout and good idea. However, navigation. Why have some of the artists indexed under their surname and other their first names. Example Louis Armstrong immediately before Avril Lavigne - use one or the other methods not both

 

The idea is great but honestly i didn't like the design nor the logo
but anyway good luck !

 

Cool! I like it. If you did it just for two days, I think this project has a good chance to be successful.

viriava: i fixed the search bar (in IE8 was ok, in older versions was broken)

2advance, dragonsden, blairsp : the left menu is static, as soon as I created full list of artists I could shorten it.

Gat Gat: logo is noticed by everyone who visit the site. One says it's great and the other one it's awful

alexSYS: I wish it to be successful although I made it only for fun

Any ideas for new functionality? (articles system is almost ready, what else?)

Nice script !
I would suggest a few things:
First I would design another logo. Simulating the You Tube logo and feeding just You Tube videos is kind of a rip off, and doesn't make your site original. Why wouldn't I just go to You Tube, since you keep reminding me of it ?

Secondly: It will be a tall task to keep up with all the videos to make sure that they are still there: I clicked on a few and got "Embedding Disabled By Request" which you will have a lot of.

The problem with music videos on You Tube is they are not all uploaded by the owner, so they get yanked often. Videos that are just the song playing with a made up image, or off of T.V. are a dead giveaway that they are unauthorized and will probably be gone soon....too many of those and it will turn off your viewers and affect your traffic.

As far as the design and look go, I really like it, and I would like a little more info on the script. Is it PHP Motion or custom ?

 

In my opinion its a very good idea and the website is looking great
