Well the Democrats have won, they won't be sharing your Islamophobia and myopic world view, that is certain. - MENJ
I know that a fact that there are a number of apostates in Malaysia and they are not permitted to legally change religion but I have never heard of any one of them being executed from denouncing the faith in this modern age. They are pretty much still alive. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=21943
Menj, you're going to far with your hatred. I don't think that you will be around by tomorrow any longer. You're a terrorist. A make to believe religion with terror and killings to achieve it is not the way the rest of the world will indulge.
What I mean is that they are all still alive. No one in Malaysia has been executed because they turn away from Islam. Sorry, for my expression 'pretty much'. Malaysia is definitely oppossed to those using Islam as a platform for terrorism.
I am sure he is unhappy that his religion was misunderstood and aligned with terrorism. It happens that there are some islam extremists which makes a mess. I would believe they are terrorists who happened to be muslim rather than the religion asking them to kill. Like I said, you need to be living in moderate Muslim country like Malaysia, you understand them a lot better. I visit Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei regularly and being a non-muslim, I am not treated any differently from how they treat muslims. I feel safe walking in the streets alone. And one of my retirement dream is to retire in Malaysia. In fact, I feel safer while in Malaysia than when I was in Australia. As a Chinese Singaporean and a tourist to Australia, I had people coming out to me calling me names and using language because I am not white. I did not offend anyone, I just happened to be walking down the street minding my own business and spending money in their stores. How would you like it if someone criticise your religion or what you believe in ?
Menj is saying to be for killing apostates of islam though. Is that considered to be moderate and is that even allowed to express in a moderate country?
Like I said, Deuteronomy 13:6-10 also mentioned the same thing. The past things were really drastic but in today's context, tolerance is the key. However, that was the past and in Modern Malaysia, no one has been executed because they renounced Islam. They are still living. In this free world, we are allowed to have our own opinions, it is pretty much the same as how people here are allowed to express their opinion that Islam is not a peaceful religion.
I am sure that my Malaysian muslim friends do not share his point of view. I believe we should stop provocating anyone because of their religion, let's learn to tolerate one another's beliefs. We are living in a free world anyways.
I happen to be born in the States so whether you like it or not, technically the US of A is my country too, boyo. Its just a matter of whether I apply for an Americano passport now, or later. - MENJ
Technically, you need a passport. In reality, you don't live here, nor can you vote. Therefore, heed your own advice:
If I apply for a social security card (which is no problem for me), I can easily vote. Now, going back to where we were discussing about apostasy before you started to sidetrack and talked about my legal right to getting a citizenship in the US of A, the interested reader may kindly refer to footnote 29 of the following article by the late Dr Ismail R. al-Faruqi, entitled "Islam and Human Rights": http://ismailfaruqi.net/content/view/28/2/ I am sure it would be beneficial to all...except for the few whose myopia have clouded their judgement. - MENJ
Haven't you already admitted "death" is the sentence for apostasy? What's more to explain? I think the only one that didn't get it, and is ready to stand up and tolerate such, is eddy2009.
