Hi, I'm relatively new to this, so all insights are welcome. Is there value in buying multiple word domain names? How about domains that start with webuy, wesell, ect.? Stringing together words that make sense together? Any thoughts? Experiences? Do they make money? Thanks
Yes there is value in buying multiple word domain names if you find a keyword like "black and white people purple eaters" that gets a ton of searches everday it might be in your best interest to buy the domain name "blackandwhitepeoplepurpleeaters.com" toss up a site and do some SEO on it so it ranks for its term, and therefore gets you traffic. My suggestion is that you learn how to do careful keyword research and once you find keywords that are easy to rank for and are long tail, see if that keyword is available as a .com if it is, buy it and build your site. Its a great way to get organic traffic and make money from it without doing too much actual backlinking and offpage SEO.
Thanks...that makes sense. I've built a few websites, that's not a problem. But, what kind of content do you put on a website if you don't really have any connection to the topic? Thanks again
There are different things you can write about on any topic if its a product, do a product review, and write it from reading amazon.com reviews or other reviews, or write about the techincal details of the item. Google search your topic to find ideas or do a search in ezine articles to see what types of things people are searching for.
Not that I'm an expert, but some of the best advice I've received is... Think like the end user. This sounds easy, but there is more to it than meets the eye. Once you nail down the general topic of interest that fits with your domain name, spend time reading forums of the topic's subject. That helps to put you in the mindset of those you are trying to interest. Engage and ask questions about what they'd like to see more information about if it is appropriate. As for 2 - 3 word domains, just watch your TV. Almost all business end users have domains longer than one word. Even Best Buy has a two word domain. I agree with Jaysmyne in that keyword search term domains can work. It all depends on what you are doing with it. A nice short clean domain like QuiltingSites.com is a great investment if you are setting up a portal or directory, but might not work as well for direct merchandise sales. However, any good SEO expert could turn that same domain into anything they wanted though. If you were setting up an affiliate site to sell a very specific product like ionic foot baths and wanted to increase the type in traffic you could use the 4 word search term: "Ionic Detox Foot Bath" as a domain which gets over 5000 direct searches a month. I've rambled enough. I do hope you find this helpful or at least interesting.
@ChoWriter -- Everything you could come up with is okay as long as the domain name is still relatively short, pronounceable, easy to read and to remember and does not consist of lots of dashes and numbers, hard-to-pronounce words or keywords that are easy to confuse with others. @threads try the Google Keyword Tool or any of the popular keyword tools (WordZe, WordTracker etc.).
