Sorry if it already has been discussed in different thread. I signed up for a web hosting which allow up to 20 sites. Since most of my sites are new and get very few traffic (also not complete, still developing), I decided to host them under one account. Once they become established, indexed with SE and get more traffics, I will move them to different account. Do you think it is a BAD idea? Do multiple domains under one hosting account has any negative impact on SEO? I know many people have multiple websites, how do you manage those? Do you have separate hosting for each site?
With one webhosting provider your sites will very probably have the same C class of IP address. Links from sites hosted on IP with same C class are valued less by Google. Therefore if you will interlink your websites it will bring lower positive effect as links from other webhosting servers.

What Xaver is saying is that if you have 20 websites hosted under this account, then individually there is no problem with Google for this. However if you make links between these 20 sites, then Google can tell that they are all hosted on the same server and so will give those links less importance than links from other sites. HTH.
So there is no SEO problem except linking each other? What about if I move my hosting after my website get indexed? Will SE drop my indexed pages?
Generally there shouldn`t be a problem if you move your sites to other hosts and your pages will stay indexed.
Just as an FYI, if linking between your sites becomes important to you someday, there are hosts that provide a spread of C blocks and IP addresses - so you'd still be able to have them hosted with a single host. Sam
hmm..i host all my sites at the same hosting account and it still has a good Seo. i don't think multipul hosting accounts matter.
I think if you are talking HUNDREDS of sites, it's bad... especially hundreds of directories... But if you have 4-5 projects you are working on, it isn't going to penalize you... If you goal for the sites is to make money selling links, it might be best to have different servers... If you are just wanting to market sites, I don't think it's a big deal.
you can buy dedicated ip's from your host to prevent this. also it is not so important to host all your sites under one account you can host only one but there will also be other web hosting buyers sharing your server with the same ip. so you can check other all other sites hosted with same ip from www.whois.sc Be sure to see this ip is not not blacklisted cause spam etc. you can also see if at whois.sc. Also one important thing about this ip is where is it physically located check at http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/website-country/ i discovered that if your ip seemed at india etc. google tends your site as an indian webpage and forces to show results from www.google.co.in but not www.google.com so high
Hi Chris, I'm currently using Hostland (www.hostland.com), which has this type of server setup, and I've been happy with their service thus far. Their 'Ultimate Reseller Program' allows for up to 5000 domains, all of which will be spread out over multiple C blocks and IP addresses. HTH, Sam
If you have a tight budget to start with, don't worry and keep them all under one account, you'll just loose a fraction of opportunity to rank well. If you can splash out much money and wan to take every opportunity then spread them out over different C classes. But that's just one of many factors, so I would register them under different names and maybe move each one to a different host when developed and bringing in some profit or results.
Hosting accounts with different IP's etc. is overrated IMO. While their may be some small benefit for this, it's limited at best. Certainly not worth all the trouble.
