Multiple websites instead of the one?

    Hi there,

The last few days i've been thinking about expanding and developing a few websites, surely the more websites you have usually guarantees better income? Obviously depending on how well you monetize them.

What's a reasonable amount of websites to run at any one time?

I run 5 sites and that's as many as I want to run, I may even sell one soon. Its mostly a time issue. Any more and the quality of the content my start to suffer.

    No.
FYI,there no such thing as the more site you run equal to the more income you get.
Now people is looking for quality, there is no use if you have 5 blog but all of them is not having quality content.
For me,1 site at each time is reasonable enough and i prefer quality then quantity.

I think you're looking at it like slots in Vegas- the more I put money into, the better chance one will pay off. Websites are completely different. The more time you spend on one- marketing it, developing quality content, building a community, designing an attractive site, etc, the more money you'll make- unless you're in a niche no one cares about :)

I'm not really a webmaster, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

I actually believe more or less the opposite to what you've suggested above.

I think the key point many aspiring internet marketers miss is that making money online typically has a non-linear rate of return for the work put in. I suspect that, on average, you do something like 80% of the work for the first 20% of the income, and only have to do another 20% of the work for the remaining 80% of potential earnings.

For this and other reasons, I believe that time spent consistently and methodically on building up one website really professionally probably produces far better income, overall, than having more websites.

I suspect that, for anyone asking, "one" is a great answer. ;)

That is a great answer! I also agree with this point, i myself have started a forum about money making and even though it isn't very popular when i get offers to go 50/50 on sites with my friends i don't accept them all as i would prefer to spend time marketing my forum which i now has the most potential even though it will take a lot longer.

Nothing guarantees better income, I don't know where you heard that.

Regardless of how you try to monetize a website, that doens't mean it will make you money.

It takes hard work and dedication to make a website succeed.

If you run more sites you will make more income. The other factor is how much extra time are you going to spend on each site? You could have 30 sites and spend no time on them at all and make 50$ a month while the dude next door runs 3 site, spends hours on them and makes 500$ a month. It all depends on the amount of time.

I make 2 sites every month and each makes me 1300 per month and if I decide to sell it I can get about 2500 for each. I keep the list of sign ups and offer back end product which makes me about 2-3 sales per month extra.
    Expenses are not high...
Domain Registration: $7/year per domain˙with godaddy discount
Hosting: $7.95/month (they host as many domains as you want)
    Autoresponder: $19.00/month (AWeber)
I also pay $3 for PRL rights and make a product-15 page ebook.
Website is 2 pages, sales page and thank you page. It works for me :)
    on the other side...
I have one site for years now and with lots of pages about college education that brings in $150 from adsense but zero sales. All and all, my vote to small sites.
