Multiple Sites - Same Company Name but different products

My boss would like to create 4 separate sites for 4 separate products that our company sells.

He would like to use our company name in the first part of the url followed by a descriptive term for each product.

    For example:

    MyCompanyPCGolfGames.com
    MyCompanyLaunchMonitors.com
    MyCompanyCourseVisualization.com
    MyCompany.com (our current site)

Will this set up cause any problems with Google?

I was just wondering since the Company Name will appear in all urls (4 Total) and at each site. NOTE: Each site will focus on a different legitimate product and have different content.

Also - will I be able to create links between all these sites without causing problems for Google placement

I would think that as long as the content is different you'd be o.k. As for the cross-linking, I'd do it but keep it to a minimum, say maybe just on the homepage or something. I wouldn't cross-link on every page of each site.

you can accomplish the same thing by setting up this way ...

    MyCompany.com/PCGolfGames/
    MyCompany.com/LaunchMonitors/
    MyCompany.com/CourseVisualization/

    or

    MyCompany.com/PC-Golf-Games/
    MyCompany.com/Launch-Monitors/
    MyCompany.com/Course-Visualization/

    or

    PCGolfGames.MyCompany.com/
    LaunchMonitors.MyCompany.com/
    CourseVisualization.MyCompany.com/

    or

    PC-Golf-Games.MyCompany.com/
    Launch-Monitors.MyCompany.com/
    Course-Visualization.MyCompany.com/

from a SEO perspective you may be better off this way, also provides for better branding and growth if you start marketing additional products

You wont have any problems so long as your content is indeed different.

Hi, I had the same kind of question in a different post. I like sayles suggestion. My question is how to move towards that structure without affecting current ranking, eg. my site is currently set up as such:

    MyCompany.com/service_1.htm
    MyCompany.com/service_2.htm
    etc.

Sayles, does your proposes structure any different than what I already have. Thanks claudiasmt for this post, you asked what I should have.

    Divlayn ...
It is very well documented that going with underscores is not a viable solution. Defintiely go with dashes. Use a 301 redirect from your current pages ..

    mycompany.com/service_1.htm ---> 301 ----> mycompany.com/service-1.htm
