I was with godaddy deluxe hosting account and have since moved off it and moved to a smaller provider that doesn't have 1000+ sites on each server.

I also noticed a little bit more love from search engines when I went to a smaller hosting company as they didn't have 100s of parked domains or spam sites on the server. I still have a domain to transfer over, which will be done sometime this month.

I went with unflux.net hosting (and they do offer multiple domains - it just depends on how many domains you wish to run).

Multiple domains on the same ISP can be ok if they are not all linking to each other - but rather independently being promoted or a little cross promoting... as others have said not always best to have all sites on one server as well due to teh fact if something does go wrong with the server then all your sites would be inaccessible until the problem is resolved.

    Good luck.

Another recommendation for Hostgator. Actually 1&1 also allows multiple sites - but their tools and control panel are inferior.

I host all my sites on a dedicated server with layeredtech. I've been very happy with them.

so you're saying that a smaller provider would be a better option..? is there anyone here who's had good experience with godaddy as they are the host i was hoping to go for - i don't have a lot of money to spend right now and their packages look good.

So from what I have learned here, it's not a bad idea to host mutliple sites on ONE account and it does NOT hurt SEO as long as they don't link to each other. What exactly "linking to each other" mean here? There can't be any Anchor Link on these sites? Say I put up two websites on the same host and I have got a little text link down at the footer. Would that hurt my rankings in any way? Get me banned?

I would not make interlinks on a sitewide basis. I don't think links on some contact page or something would be a bad idea though. I mean 'other sites by me' can't hurt. But sitewides to totally unrelated sites (subject-wise) are bound to look unprofessional to visitors and google as well.

Linking from one site to another will never get you banned. It's just that Google may trust a link that points to the same IP address a little less than they would trust a link that points to a different IP address.

My bad experience with one host, i split hosts if one host is down so all my money making sites gets down, so i split my sites on different hosts.

I was planning to do something similar as Samzach was planning to do. I think I am gona go with one GoDaddy account (the promo offers are just too delicious) (and I like their support) and I am gona get some other hosting provider just to stay safe.

    Thanks to all!

If you are serious, go VPS, Virtual Private Server...just a sliced server, and obtain access to root, unlimited domains also with multiple IP addresses at different C-class blocks...install any software you need, reboot it...it is a dream...

With every new fresh idea I dump a new website and still have room to resale hosting space to friends...

I got a nice offer of $240 per year...

I was droped from LunarPages because 'cause too much CPU usage (sure they have 3000 sites per server)...

I'd probably go with PalSys hosting. Great support, awesome uptime, and a small firm that never, never oversells :D

what can i say about godaddy. uptime is generaly good but if u are looking for high traffic site it will be better to go with better hosting plan.their is a limit for similtanious connection :
    in economy plan 50 connections
    in deluxe plan 100 connections
    in premium plan 150 connections
so if u will host high traffic site with over than 150 member connected for the best plan it will be better to go with other hosting.
i dont know a lot about dream host but as far i know they is a tone of good and bad review.in any case with dream host or godaddy u will get what u have paid for ... :)

godaddy aren't the best for hosting IMO. Try Asmallorange or Hostgator.
And as for having multiple sites on same host, Ive never had an issue with having 20+ sites on the same host and IP address in a reseller account.
