    Yes you can, but it would be ill advised if all you are going to do is have some gimmicks to make the two sites look different.

    If you are good with databases you can set it up so that the configuration, some elements of the category structure, etc. Are all run from the primary database but then have seperate tables to store the link information so that both directories remain unique.
