I need to have a single image on one of my sites that has different areas on it where visitors can click and be redirected to different pages. I can’t break up the image and use hyperlinks b/c of the nature of the layout.

    thx

Sweet thanks! Now my question is how do I determine the coordinates for the spots I want to make links?

there are various tools on the market to do so - also open source
    such as
    http://www.gimp.org/
available for most platforms - Gimp can do LOTS more than just that
for details on how to use Gimp for image maps see
    http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Image_Map/

    OR
    manually
lets say you have a flower pics with 5 roses
each rose should link to a different page

hence you open that pic in a picture editor
move over the pic with your cursor to ONE flower
then LOOK at the coordinates of your cursor
    and wirte them down

    ...
    and create the imapge map

I have done it only a few times
you have variosu FORMs you can use as target area in a photo - such as ciurcles of a particular size
    or rectangles

i thought you have that image map up and running already
it's so simple to do even by hand

if you provide ONLINE here in DP
    -the URL to your site
    - the URL to the page you want the image map to be
    - the URL to the image you are planning to use
    - at least a few of the linked pages you want to have on the map
    - describe the area you want to have linked if any particular

then i create you a working sampe with at least 3 ares
then you do the remaining areas/links on oyur own

its just a matter of minutes once you have started
DM and other tools are fine if you make hundreds of pics and links
for a single image its faster by hand
