If you manage to get lots of links from different pages on the same domain, is that more valuable then one link coming from that domain? Lets say you found a good website where you can create your own profile and it carries some weight. If you made several profiles (different pages on that domain) all which linked back to your website... does that carry more weight then just one link? I'm not sure if Google in particular counts all the links from a domain as ONE link or as SEVERAL links, if there are several. Whats your take? Clay
another example is our signature posts. If your signature with your link appears on 100 posts but all from same domain... is it worth more then 1 post with the sig?
I believe that, it is worth for the backlinks in the thousands posts and pages of signature. Thousands signature posts means thousand of backlinks. The backlinks are still calculated as one in a page or posts. That's why, you'll find that people willing to buy or rent signature link from the one who has thousand post in a forums. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
I think it can be a helpful thing to get more backlinks from one domain. That domain can have many pages ranked well for different keywords and with high PR and I think this can help your site. I know is also important to get links from many different domains (or even better different IP's).
I would like to here more about this as I have wondered about this myself. I recently got 4 links on a site so I;ll see how it goes.
From what I've seen is the more links you have from one site the more they diminish in strength of passing PR flowing to a single page on the other site. I suspect that one or two links from a site will carry almost as much weight for PR to a single page as a hundred from the site. However, I've also noticed that for SERPs purposes that as long as the additional links are very specifically related from one page on site A to another page on site B then they carry weight. So the difference is that they carry weight when the links are spread around the pages, but diminish if all the links go to the same page.
So if you comment frequently on one blog and your comments all link to the home page of your blog, those comments with the link to your site lose credibility after x number of comments?
