Multiple languages on a site

    Hello

I am in the process of creating a website that deals with online surveys.

My plan is to translate this site into multiple languages. Each language would get its own set of php files with the search terms included in the names of the php files for SEO purposes.

I would present the same online survey content, but in different languages.

Normally it is best for a site to be concentrated about one topic, so that Google can give you a higher rating.

But in this case the site is about one topic, but in multiple languages.

    My questions are the following:

    1. Would multiple languages on this site hurt my SEO efforts ?
    2. Can Google determine that the topic is the same, but in different languages ?

    Thanks in advance - Paul

    1. The multi languages will not influence the poison of the website in Google. However, you shouldn't expect that pages on other languages will have the same good positions. I have a website with PR6 and there are pages in 7 other languages, there is no that much traffic on those pages comparably to the English version. Also, I advise that you should not use the dynamic pages showing the content depending on the browser language settings.

    2. Now Google is unable to define the text meaning in different languages.

I have a site with all pages duplicated: English/Spanish. And after choosing carefully the keywords for both languages I'm serving aprox. 55% english pages, 45% spanish pages.
At first I was serving dynamic pages depending on the browser language settings, but that was not good for SEO purposes; so, now each language page has his own URL (although I'm using Apache mod rewrite module to create dynamic pages).
