I was just wondering if havng multiple links from one page of your site to another is a bad thing? Say page A links to page B a total of 3 times; once in the top navigation tab, once in the breadcrumb and once in the content would this hurt/help/not affect rankings? For the top nav and breadcrumb the anchor text is the same but the link within the content is different? Should I even be changing the breadcrumb so it differs in anchor text from the nav tab to try and rank for other terms? Many thanks...
A small number of times is OK (3 or so). Varying the link text can be good too in order to highlight different search terms. Also use the title text on the link to vary the phrases too, e.g. "breadcrumbs" and "crumbs".
I think that if you not overdo with number of links as mikelaw said, such links will be extremely helpful as they make crawling of your website easier. Google could throw on you OOP (Over Optimalisation Penalty) in case of masslinking (20+,30+, or so) to another pages of site.
If you use different Titles of the links and there other 30 links to internal pages than it is ok. 3 would probably be the safe limit.
Multiple internal links from one page to another is a normal occurrence, it's ok as long as you do not over do it.
