Be careful, IE6 PNG fixer (and some complicated script) is not working with these emulators, so it's not 100%. For basic HTML testing is perfect.
Ye I agree, it's not a perfect solution, but it gives you the basic idea of what your page would look like. If you wanted an exact replica you'd have to install a proper version of the IE either on another computer or using a virtual P.C.

IETester is good - though sometimes it lockes up for me if its a complicated website - though IETester does offer IE5.5, IE6, IE7 and IE8. Another one I use sometimes is NETRenderer - website.
You can use crossbrowsertesting.com to get access to virtual machines running every version of IE possible all via the web.
