How does one get the following results as seen in the first listing?

No, I'm not involved in the MLM. This company is in my state and the first business I could think of that gets such results.

Exactly...notice the "Learn", "Drink", etc results? Is it simply a matter of certain sites being much larger? I've never seen a low traffic site with that in the results.

Seems to be related to being considered an authority site for a particular search term

Take a look at this search:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=xactware

Xactware has a lower alexa rating (yes, I know Alexa can't be trusted, best I can do at the moment though) than the project I am working on currently. Both sites come up first for industry keywords. The site structures are also very similar.

I just can't figure out why my site can't get a similar looking result.

    Any other ideas?

In my experience, it takes a site that has long been in the #1 position for a strong keyword (usually a single word) and has internal pages that independently rank high for the same keyword.

The keyword is usually some brand name (e.g. "Toyota" or "Chevrolet" or "Apple"), but doesn't have to be (e.g. "graphics" or "guns" or "leasing" or "calculators").
