I haven't messed with multiple domains on a single host before but I thought I would take advantage of it. Anyway, I've had this one site for a year and a couple days ago, I put another site up on the same host (totally different subject). Am I correct in assuming that Google will treat this as a new site even though I had another site sitting on the same host for a year?

yea google will treat it new offcourse its mainly based on domain age and when u put the site.. not on the hosting because thousands of sites are hosted on shared hosting

The main thing is that google will not count links from one site on the same host as another. If you want to link from one of your sites to another, its fine, just don't think the link will count for a backlink. Also it can help your new site get indexed if your old one is crawled frequently.
