Multiple domains on one hosting plan?

    Hi,

I have 3 domains registered and i want to start creating sites for them. I am wondering if i will have to sign up for 3 hosting plans?

Or can i sign up for one larger hosting plan and somehow point each domain at a different space on the server or something? Can someone enlighten me on how to accomplish this?

    Thanks!!

Just look for any domain that supports domain pointers or add-on domains - favourites around here include asmallorange.com and my fave, site5.com

You can sign up for a multi-domain hosting plan so you can host all your domains in just one place.

Dreamhost offers this, check out my sig :D

servage.net allows unlimited domains and 340gb transfer for $7 a month
kind of limited cpanel wise, but a good overall deal.

    i use liquidweb.com personally

I ended up purchasing a plan from asmallorange.com even though their plans are a bit more expensive.

I was going to go with site5 because they have a lot of cool features but i read on webhostingtalk.com that their service has been decreasing lately!

Thanks for all the help guys :)

No, if the other 2 domains have PR it will be passed to the folders that they are redirected to if you do a 301 redirect.

What about if they dont have page rank yet??

Will they have a disadvantage in getting page rank compared to the domain that is pointed to the root folder?

It is not a matter of advantages or disadvantages here. Probably the PR on the new domains will be lower than on the 1st one, as probably the first/main domain got some backlinks in the mean time, while the other two domains (ex-directories) don't.

If you didn't deeplinked in your site, the PR on the other two will be lower than on the main one, as it results from the PR "drain" of the 1st rootdir domain to them.

Deeplinking: A good link building campaign doesn't mean only obtaining backlinks to your entry page, but also to pages inside your website with adequate anchor text. So try obtain external links to inner pages as well.

PR drain: page A links to page B, therefore A will contribute to B pagerank, "draining" some PR to it.
