I have a website that is doing quite well, but when I originally built it I didn't know how important a domain name was. If I buy other keyword domain names can I just point them at my original site? What's the best way to do this to avoid duplicate content or other penalties?
You can point other domain's do the original site, but if you start promoting the new domains and getting links you are going to run into problems.
More domains with the same content will be penalized ! Take care! redirect new domains, but dont promote them !
just create 301 redict from old domain to the new domain. after you create this redirect, delete all content from old domain
If you are doing quite well, why are you messing with domain names? Granted, keywords in the domain does help, but if you are already doing well, I'd lean in the direction of focusing my attention on exponentially growing the successful site and not mess with tricks and such. Brandon
I think the solution for you is transfer all content and redirect old domain to new site. This will avoid duplicate problem. but it may have problem with PR and backlinks though. anyway those thing can build again and it wont be anybig problem just need some time.
