I am to go for a multiple domain hosting account. As I can see with this, I can register unlimited number of domain names. My idea is to register a good domain name as soon as I meet one and then build it slowly and finally to sell it. Will I be able to do it? Are domains registered with these accounts transferable? Do they receive normal features that traditional hosts provides (Privacy, DNS control etc)? Please share your experience. Thank you. webgaya.
I am not sure if I understand you correctly but I take it that you are signing up for a Web Hosting account which supports unlimited domains because from what I understand for domain names, you still need to pay for each domain name as individuals. Yes, if this is so, you can always host multiple sites with different domain names on the unlimited domains web hosting account. You can always sell each site and have someone transfer the content out when you do so. I've purchased several sites hosted that way. There are two types of web hosting accounts which offers you the ability to host more than one site on the account, one is a reseller account and another is just a web host with multiple domain hosting. For a reseller account, each individual site although will add up to your bandwidth and space usage, will have their own individual control panel and their own virtual space. If you get a standard web hosting account which allows multiple domain hosting, each add-on site would be hosted as a sub-directory and may not have its own control panel but will still have its own FTP access. Domain names and hosting are two separate entities and are not dependent on each other. When you sell a site, at your domain name registrar you do a 'push' of the domain name for the site. Then you could either provide the control panel for the buyer to move the content over or you can do what some do and that is do a backup of all the site files and database (if any) and then just send it to the buyer either as an email attachment or a download link.
Yea I can simple add a domain to my hosting account. It's called an add on domain. and it gets it's own folder in it's ftp. I host with 1and1 by the way.
