Like was discussed in another thread, maintaining and promoting a directory is not a simple task. Looking for quality in a directory is quite time consuming. Why do people own multiple directories when they can concentrate all their efforts and budget on just one? Are you for having multiple directories or just one? Any thoughts on this?
I have actually 5 General Directories and 3 Niches. My main concentrate is Dirsensei. Its like having 1 main business with several satellite offices and all parts functioning and making good in terms of investment. I just promote them all mostly; Dirsensei. Thanks
Ive dont have as many as the other guys but i think i do ok.... Has anyone had to ever wait 48 hours or more for me to accept thier links? NO they havent.... thx malcolm
In my view --its not about management. -Its about promotional aspect for which I am sceptical of owning multiple directories. In my view I'll be better-off to concentrate all my energies on 1/2 really high quality top class directories rather than lots of medium directories. Suppose I have 10K$ budget and have 75 director's network. I think that budget is enough to take all of the directories to get PR5 in 6-8 months time by linking with each other ( provided all of them have separate CC --IP). But I would go the other way instead --rather than having 75 PR5 directories with innerpage PR3/4 --I would go for a class directory that would have PR7 home-page and PR6/7 inner-pages.
i don`t see a problem with owning multiple directories i currently have 5 General directories and 4 bidding directories and i have plans for more to come
I run 3 directories - Main focus on bqtm.com - while 1 is health niche ( will develop it later on ) But its really a tough task to run even this 3
Currently I got three and I am launching a new one - The new one taking too long to getting it going. Hopefully few more days.
I have two, one paid & heavily promoted, and one free.. although i'm developing my 2nd paid directory as we speak
No doubt it's easy to manage and to finance 1 or 2 paid directories, but if one has enough resources to finance a number of directories, then it's not bad idea, should be fruitful as well. I own like 5 paid directories and 1 free directory at the moment, all are well established and i put my best efforts for their promotions and making them strong each day.
i try to promote all my directories the same i have a set budget for all plus i put 90% of the money they make back into them as well
i have 6 currently, with 3 of them i have had for 3 plus years.I have not promoted them as i should until this past4 or 5 months.I now am devoting all my time to maming these sites the best i can
HI I own www.linkdirectory.com and I spend all my time on this directory... I have the domains... www.idirectory.info www.blogdirectory.info www.forumdirectory.net I bought all these domains thinking I would develop them... But not thinking howmuch time goes in to a directory I don't think I will develp the above domains... I may sell them or look for partners to hook up with me to develop them... I am not sure which direction to go down.. What do you think I should do... Thanks Tom Dahne
I think it is fine to have few niche directories with the general one. Niche directories do not need the same kind of promotion as a general directory. Even a PR2 niche directory is worth submitting to. owever managing more than 1 general directory and promoting them may be not the best strategy, even to make money.
Hmm, I see many people having a few directories. I'd say the quality does matter a lot, and a lot more than quantity. You can have a large quantity, but what I think is, it's okay and definitely fine to have more than 1 directory, but it would be good if you make sure they're all of good quality. If not nobody would ever pay or give attention to any of your directory. So if you have a lot of directories and they're of no good content, which easier said, lousy quality, then there's no point having so many of them, IMO.
Well, this depend on many factors, budget, time constraints, commitment etc. I've probably overstetched myself a bit with the 4 below and http://www.bidforplacement.com/ in retrospect I'd probably have just promoted 1 or 2 heavily.
