We currently rank #1 for "[old_city] web design" and related terms. However, we have moved to a new city/state. I want to target the new city but that is going to take a while to get up there and generate enough leads to maintain our business. I am scared to take down or change the existing site to target the new one since 80% of our business comes from the current search placement. I am considering setting up a second domain that targets the new city. 99% same design, rewritten content, same portfolio projects. Would doing this affect the existing website in any way?
Register in Proxy. Use a different Host. Use different Telephone number... and then there is no way for Google to tie the two together. Leave the existing site up. If it ain't broke don't fix it. You could use a script to load a pop up window if you wanted to redirect clients to your new phone.
