Multiple blogs in one niche -- anyone has experience with this?

Hi, does anybody do this? or do you just have one blog for a niche, is it beneficial if you have multiple blogs (maybe with different identities) in one niche?

If they all compliment each other, or are of a slightly different side of the niche then it could do quite well. If they all contain duplicate, or very similar, blog posts then they probably won't.

Do you mean multiple blogs with the same posts or just plain old splogs? Multiple identical content blogs can be benefitial from an ease of maintenance and post selling point of view - some DP users sell posts on such networks. It is an easy way of getting lots of content on the web, but much of it is duplicate so appears as supplimentary results in the search engines. If you're talking about several blogs in the same niche each with original (different) content then, if you do them properly, the effort of updating them will probably outweigh the benefit of traffic and link income.

Most niches have subniches too, and multiple blogs could work out that way. The the niche should be sufficiently large for you to get different stories everyday to post to different blogs

I have sites all in the travel niche that cover more subniche travel topics... I haven't reaped the rewards yet since I'm still in development, but I'm hoping this strategy proves to be successful

Personally I think that it is far better to have one blog, well organized and structured that offers all that info instead of multiple blogs on the same topic.

Remember that the army is stronger when it is together not when it is separated. ;)

I agree with shuttle. Why spread yourself out? If you're in the same niche, one blog is sufficient. Most importantly, you don't need to promote two sites . . . you can focus on building the one site up to become an authority.
