Multiple Accounts

I have two separate twitter accounts one for personal and another for business that I recently created, it instantly notified all my associates of the first account even though I wished these to stay temporarily unattached.
How can I stop these from being associated and why did it do this in the first place?

Any help would be gratefully received

I had this problem too. You can remove your phone number from your settings and also your email. Go to settings/ privacy and deselect "let others find me by my email". Don't let them find you by phone number either. You might have to login from a computer to adjust that one.

I also blocked myself on both accounts. Also, if you are following all of the same people/news/sports etc accounts on both accs, twitter will associate your two accs as having a lot in common so it will suggest to those following you on either account to follow the other one because it rates it as a "similar account". It's very annoying. I can't rememeber if there was anything else I had to do. Oh, for a while i had to keep one of my accounts on private (turn on "protect my tweets") so it won't show up as a suggested acc to follow to my followers. And also try to have different following lists on both so you don't get rated as similar accounts. To this day I still randomly have people finding both of my accs. It's rare though, only once or twice a year. It's usually someone I dont know and it frustrates the hell out of me. Anyway, I just block them. Good luck!

Ps. If you go into settings/twitter on ur iphone, there's a thing at the bottom you can deselect. It's something about updating your contacts. It might alert others who know you (have you as an iphone contact) to your new accounts so maybe look into that and deselect it if possible.
