Multilingual SEO - English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese

Hi, I just wanted to say hello to everybody. I am relatively new to SEO with just a few years of experience in a couple of enterprises. I have some experience in multilingual SEO. My mother tongue is Spanish so I can help you with that if you have any question. SEO practices change all the time, so I hope to keep the pace.

Well, in my experience, if you want to do SEO in any language you must focus in keywords. Your strategy is going to be based on those keywords. Keywords must be in the targeted language, then you proceed as always:

keyword research --> on-page optimization --> link building (don't forget anchor text with keywords)

I suggest the Google Language Tools to do multilingual searches.

The hardest part is content creation because you will need copy that makes sense and that is useful for the user. It has to be written in the targeted language. You have to consider cultural differences too.

In the case of Chinese SEO, consider that Baidu.com is the most used search engine in China, but that's another story.
