Multi-tier affiliate programs

If you join an affiliate program that pays 50%, and 5% at the second tier, does the webmaster who I've refered to the program get paid less than you 45%? or do the program owners pay out more commission so 50% of their sales commission to him 5% of his comission to you?

    Thanks

Typically, The program owners just pay out more commission. In your example
they would pay 55% - 50 to the guy you recruited who made the sale, and 5 to you.

Thanks next gen, just to clarify I know of jewelry company that offers 10% on it's products and 10% second tier as well. If you're selling a product at £1000, the 2nd tier affiliate who makes the sale gets £100 and the top level affiliate gets 10% of his comission, so £10?

    Hi Adam,

It depends on how the merchant sets it up. I have seen it both ways. But the way it usually works is % of sale on both tiers. So in your example if you sold the product you would make 100 - if your 2nd tier sold it you would still make 100. But they could have it set up so you make 10% of commish instead. Probably need to email them to get a def answer.
