Hello everyone, Im in need of advice. I am searching from Singapore. Going to google.com.my and entered the my search query. Weird thing is in the search results, One of them will be xyz.com (not the real website domain) on page 1. they have sites in US (xyz.com), Malaysia (xyz.com.my) and Singapore (xyz.sg) respectively. Previously xyz.com has never appeared here (google.com.my). All that appeared was xyz.com.my .But now xyz.com.my goes to page 5 of the search result. The moment I clicked the search result for xyz.com on page 1 of the search result, I was redirected to their singapore's website (xyz.sg) . I believe it is some sort of geo-targeting being done at this point. Does anyone know what is happening here? Has google thought that xyz.com is more appropriate to appear in google.com.my? Or xyz.com.my has been penalized for something that they should not have done? I find this rather perplexing. I go to google.com.my and I expect to get results with Malaysia's sites. But one of the search result is a US based site and it clearly shows xyz.com. and when I click on xyz.com, I expect to go to US website but instead i'm being redirected to xyz.sg Thanks. Advice needed. Just doing some research and found this odd occurence.
